| An evening with Jos Tromp |
|
Jos Tromp, from Chrischona-Gemeinschaftswerk Germany, came to Stadtmission Pretoria on 30 April '10 to motivate us to share our faith with others. It is not required for us to convince someone there and then to give their life to the Lord, but to plant a seed and let God work with their hearts. We can use everyday opportunities to share our faith with others. The easiest way is to tell them about our own experiences; how we came to know the Lord, how he worked in our lives and how we changed to follow him. Something that Jos said, which touched me, was that we should be sensitive to people's knowledge of the Bible and the vocabulary that we use when talking to them. They might not know the meaning of words like "new born", "mercy", "savior" etc. in the context of Christian life. We do not need to be pastors or theologians to be God's missionaries; we need to let Jesus love flow over from us to others. I experienced Jos' love for Jesus in this presentation and in discussions with him, someone passionate to share his faith with others. I only hope and pray that I, and the others who attended, can do the same. |
